How to Create an Ad That Performs?

For an advertising campaign to be effective it needs a lot of planning and hard work. Though we do have resources and websites where we can put our advertisement and we have new technologies which we can use to create our advertisement, we must understand that it is content and quality of the advertisement that would bring the results.

Here are suggestions and steps that would help you to create better ads.

Define Your Market

This step is important before you create a product. It is your market that is going to make your product a success. Therefore it is prudent to work on your market. You must be clear in which segment of people the ad is going to address.

Defining your market for ad is also important in case your product is for all kinds of people. If you target a submarket, the response would be better.

Define your Goals

You must set a clear objective in your mind for ad performance. you must know what specific results you want to achieve from your advertising. Do you want to make 5 sales per day or 100 sales.

The question that often arises is how to know in advance and no body seems to answer it.

It would be a good to study the available statistics for kind of ad you are going to put. You would need to calculate your results depending on your target base. This would set a tentative standard for your ads and would help help in calculation and evaluation.

Identify Effective Channels

You would like to place your ad at the sites which are large and visited frequently. Identify the websites you would like to place the ad. These should be the sites frequently visited by your target audience.

Now work upon the ways you can place your ad on the intended sites. You can either talk to the webmaster and negotiate or you can join the network of which the website is displaying ads.

Address Target Audience

After you identify your target audience, write your ad with a focus on that. If you are targeting stay at home moms, then craft your message highlighting the benefits of your product to that group only.

Focus is very important. Stick to a target group in your ad. Do not get tempted to include the benefits that your product would bring to the people that do not come in that group.

It is wise to create a separate ad for them.

Make Your Ad Distinguishable

Study your competitors and see what they are offering. Then work out to produce a better ad offer. Include the ultimate benefit in your headline.

Your ad text must highlight the most important features of your product.

Call For Action

Give a strong call for action in your ad.

For example

"Learn to create ebooks with this amazing short report. click here to get your copy at discount price."

Adding a call for action increases the number of clicks the ad receives.

Create Multiple Versions of Each Ad

Create three or four versions of each ad, changing the promotional message content and call to action. This would help you to split test your ads. find the best performing ad and stick to that.

Keep working on your ad campaign. It is a mistake to put a campaign in place and then not monitoring and reviewing it. Study your stats and find the points which need to be improved.
