What is Web 2-0?

Web 2.0 refers to the newer, more interconnected, interactive methods of advertising and using the internet. There are so many different new tools, including social networks like MySpace and Facebook, and even new marketing tools such as blogs and informal message board forums. All Web 2.0 really stands for is "new and improved internet." Oddly, none of these applications, tools, or capabilities are really new. They've been around since the internet was first established. This is just the first time people have found them and decided to utilize them; it took people a minute to catch up to the technology. In the past, a website was the destination in an internet search. Now, the website is part of the journey, and the destination is whatever you want it to be.

Sites now have links, multiple pages, and other things that make them more dynamic, interactive, and ultimately a two-way street for internet users. You can connect with your users on a much more personal level, and provide a level of feedback and interactivity that has never before been offered. The internet keeps growing and changing everyday; the websites need to follow suit, and now they have begun to. If a website is going to be successful, it needs to employ the tools of web 2.0 and viral marketing, including: telling stories, attaching emotion to blogs, messages, and advertising, letting everyone in, and providing old information in a new, unexpected way.

Viral marketing is becoming increasingly popular, and it will only be a matter of time before it is more popular than traditional marketing methods. With so many different ways to market a business, adding to the mix is just making more decisions and confusion for some people. However, if you take the time to research what's available you might feel a little less overwhelmed and be able to relate to people on a new level that will help your business grow and thrive in ways you never expected. The marketing of web 2.0 focuses on attaching emotion to advertising, so that people feel they can relate. It also employs the use of one-on-one connections with people to make them feel more special.

The internet is popular because it's fast, and because it has so much to offer. With everything around us constantly changing, why should the internet be left behind? It's not getting faster, but it is growing in what it can offer, and how dynamic the services it provides can be.
